Teacup Persians: MYTH
Even as breeders, we are in several Facebook groups that sell Persian cats. We’ve talked about “backyard breeders” before, but we cannot stress enough how important it is to be aware who you are buying from.
We have been seeing posts about “teacup” or “miniature” Persians, which do not exist. If people are selling teacup Persians, this means they are likely inbred or malnourished, which will cause them to not be able to grow to their full potential.
I mean— how cute are they? A Persian that stays tiny! WRONG. We need to protect these poor babies and make sure backyard breeders like this are aware of what they are doing. If they are aware, they should not be selling teacup Persians.
Same thing goes for dogs— teacup is not their full size, which means they aren’t fully healthy. If you do adopt a teacup baby, be in mind their possible health concerns that come with it.
